Subject: Proposed Change: COTTINGTON, John Gentleman, of Frome Selwood (I424)
Description: From a chancery case: Margery "being in utter dislike with her said son John Cottington being troublesome and contentious with many and especially with her". His mother disinherited John and said that he was to be the only heir of father. This John sold his father's lands at Lydney, Gloucestershire. It would appear that his father had settled all lands to his son John outside his will which for some reason only mentioned Burges/ Bridges lands perhaps to pretend that they were Cottington lands.
